Your are in the Twilight Zone

One of my favorite episodes of Rod Serling's television series called "The Twilight Zone", aired during the 1950's, was a story of two extra terrestrials who appeared incognito in a small village in Connecticut. They were conducting a scientific experiment to see whether or not an ordinary man would live up to his new potential if he were suddenly endowed with artistic talent, mathematical genius and superhuman strength. Their first subject was the town drunk, who squandered his new abilities by demonstrating his mental and physical prowess at the local bar in exchange for free drinks. The aliens reversed their high-tech process leaving the drunkard as they had found him and went on to other subjects; all of whom had been given the capacity to end all strife and hunger in the world but attempted to use their new-found abilities purely for personal gain. The two "spaceniks" finally declared the experiment a dismal failure and returned to their home planet, after concluding that humans were not worthy of such redemption because there was no one capable of selfless leadership. Obviously, these extraterrestrials never visited Crown Heights.

Rod Serling, the writer, director and producer of this popular weekly show would appear on camera as the narrator and would say that we all live in a world of imagination and can easily take a wrong turn and step off into the "Twilight Zone." Little did we know then that Mr. Serling was describing the future post 9/11 world of political correctness. Thus, if he were alive today his narrative would read something like this:

Your are in the Twilight Zone. This is the world of fantasy where terrorists are called "militants" and the war against terror is not a war against the fundamentals of Islam, but a war against a small minority of one hundred million fanatics who "hijacked a peaceful religion". This is the world of bizarre twists and convoluted turns where murderers and thieves are rewarded with the property of their intended victims and the "road map to peace" requires total surrender to homicidal lunatics.

This is the world beyond reality where atheists pray to themselves in the "Church of Non Belief". This is the world of imagination in which the officiators of marriages declare, "I now pronounce you husband and husband." This is the world of denial where threats of genocide are met with open borders and entitlements for all who chose to enter that "unseen" place in the realm of human reflection where right is wrong and left is right.

And now the madness ensued with millions of Muslims worked up into a frenzy over a political cartoon depicting Mohammed wearing a bomb for a hat. As hordes of rioting Muslim street mobs were burning and pillaging Danish embassies and consulates throughout the world, I couldn't help but notice that the bomb on Mohammed's head had a very short fuse.

To wit, for those of us who are well grounded in the truth of Torah, as the world spins itself into a downward spiral, we can only be encouraged because we are witnessing the fulfillment of prophecy. These are the end of days that our father Jacob wanted so much to warn us about from his deathbed that he was prevented from divulging. However, notwithstanding the danger in which we find ourselves, our father Jacob was able to tell us to take heart because the craziness that we are seeing is but the final throes of a dark and wild wooly world ready to be transformed into a world of G-dliness under the leadership of the Messiah.
